I am a NZ based photographer and currently live in the Auckland area.I absolutely love photography - it is a great medium allowing me to express my thoughts and ideas through the images I take.I also enjoy creating an image by utilizing technology by building triggers or devices to capture the super fast moments that the normal eye misses.

Nothing happens when you sit at home so heading out at weird hours can sometimes produce spectacular results. I just shoot at what interests me at that moment.

My photographic journey started at school after I purchased a Pentax P30 35mm film camera which was great to get me started, when I started travelling I upgraded to a Nikon N6006 and then the fun began. Spending 3 years overseas travelling and coming home with over 3000 images it was time to go digital. My first DSLR was a Nikon D300s - a great entry level camera, 2 years later I moved on to my first Professional digital SLR – The Nikon D800 in combination with the excellent Nikkor 70-200 AFS F2.8 lens. Since then the learning curve has increased and am now teaching people techniques and helping them experience the photographic journey.

I’m very often asked what camera I use for landscape photography. My reply is that I could use any, as it’s the photographer who creates the image and the camera that only records it. In the weather conditions that I find myself, I need a camera system that I can totally rely on and for me that system is Nikon, it’s a purely personal choice.

So what's in my bag when out in the landscape:-

  • Nikon D800 Body
  • Nikon 16-35mm f4 G VR
  • Nikon 60mm Micro f2.8 G AF-S
  • Nikon 85mm f1.8 G AF-S
  • Nikon 35-70mm f2.8 D
  • Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 G ii ED AF-S VR
  • Nikon 900 speedlight
  • Fenix M42 LED torch
  • Giottos MTL9371B Tripod
  • Giottos MH1311 Tripod Ball Head
  • Lee & Hi-Tec Filters ND’s, ND Grads & Polariser

All carried in a Lowepro 450AW backpack.

Additional to this I have some speciallized equipment for the Automotive shots, a 6m boom rig and mounts for the motion blurred shots and am currently building a 2m camera motion dolly for creating time lapse and standard high definition video with camera motion.

I prefer to perfect the image in-camera, rather than rely on the 'magic' of photoshop, after all, a bad image is a bad image no matter how much 'photoshopping' is done!

All images on this site are available for purchase, please contact me via the contact page and we can discuss your request, also i am available for any Automotive or Product imagery that you may require.

Thanks for stopping by.
